Why, you don't think Americans would do business with a bank that was BRITISH?

Maybe it's the Canadians who are the problem:

A few weeks ago, local bank Superior Bancorp put up a billboard at the very corner where Royal Bank of Canada's U.S. franchise RBC Centura has established a branch. The billboard reads “Sweet Home Canada,” but the word “Canada” is crossed out and replaced by “Alabama.” The kicker: “It didn't sound right to us either.”

The billboard has been “well received” by local residents who have a strong affection for their home state, said an executive at Superior, which has 26 branches in Alabama and Florida.

There is still a large section of the population for whom everything foreign is "bad", and downplaying the company's origin is useful for marketing.

This population tends to be in areas of the country that frequent Wal-Mart, and buy 99% of their products from China.
