I do not like egg nog...

Our *Hot Winter Drink* of choice is the Tom & Jerry

even without the alcohol, the batter- yes Batter, is a heart attack...

the batter
6 eggs, separated (in the old fashioned way or the discussed-to-death-but-cool-using-a-plastic-bottle method, whatever...)
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 lb. butter, at room temperature
1-2 lb. powdered sugar
1/2-1 tsp. vanilla, rum, or brandy flavoring
1/2-1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2-1 tsp. cloves
1/2-1 tsp. allspice

In separate bowls -
*Beat egg whites until soft peaks form; add salt.
*Beat egg yolks until light.
*Cream butter and powdered sugar; mix until crumbly.

Fold in egg yolks and vanilla; mix well.
Add spices. Add egg whites; mix until well blended.
Will keep several weeks in refrigerator.

the drink
fill a mug about 1/2 full with boiling water.
Add a heaping tablespoon of batter.
add 1-2 oz Rum & 1-2 oz Brandy

cheers!

We were at a football game just after Thanksgiving at Indianapolis, Indiana. The weather was cold & windy. One of the folks at the tailgate brought a 5-gallon container containing HOT apple cider and a big bottle of spiced rum. Made a great drink and you added the amount of rum that you wanted/could tolerate.

I do not like egg nog either. I'm a mulled wine/glogg/gluhwein type person. But I admit, I have never tried a Tom & Jerry - which is odd since it's very popular in this section of WI. Perhaps I should make that my holiday goal!

That's my s**t, right there. A good, hot spiked cider makes winter worth it!

I actually prefer hot tea with Bailey's (with or w/o the Frangelico).
