There's where we'll be with personal computing in a few years. Openwave (OPWV) is the acknowledged leader of wireless software applications for mobile phones and PCs.

I posted this KP report on OPWV in mid-Feb

Where are we two months later?

OPWV's end-to-end services for the wireless internet

OPWV providing gateway for AT&T's GSM/GPRS systems

Alliance with Telephia for mobile internet benchmarking

Alliance with Excelcomindo for first mobile internet solutions in Indonesia

Financial Status and Competitors

Infospace (INSP)

Comverse (CMVT)

Neither of these competitors is in exactly the same industry space as OPWV. CMVT provides enhanced services platform products, digital monitoring and recording systems for call centers, customer relationship management applications, public networks and government agencies, network signaling software for wireless, wireline and Internet communication services known as Signalware, and other telecommunications hardware and software products and services.

INSP is a leading global provider of cross-platform merchant and consumer infrastructure services on wireless, broadband, and narrowband platforms. The Company provides commerce, information, and communication infrastructure services to wireless devices, merchants, and Web sites.

These data point out a few weaknesses in OPWV's performance relative especially to CMVT, an established 4750 employee company vs. the younger OPWV's 1700 employees.

Nevertheless, OPWV's sales growth and increasing number of alliances give some benchmarks for following this exciting company over the next few months.

OPWV's FYE is June so we'll have another look then.
