SPOILERSPOILERSPOILERSPOILERSPOILERSPOILERThe US women took gold in the 800 meter freestyle relay, and broke the 17 year old world record by more than 2 seconds. It was a spectacular race to watch and the Germans took Bronze by catching the Australians and beating them by .05 seconds in the last few moments.
This was a huge, huge, HUGE race! I can't believe that it was such a blowout. Even towards the end I couldn't stop yelling the swimmers name and "USA". Hubby was like "They are going to win." but I couldn't help myself, for me it was even more exciting than the men's race. There was the whole side that the other teams were expected to be good competition, plus the fact that this is only the third time the 4x200 Free Relay has been in the Olympics for Women and the US has won both previous races. Then when the World Record popped up and the commentary was telling us that this is the longest held record in Swimming.Geez! It was great!=) Megan
