Working in GM corporate, I see a strong feeling of optimism growing over the last year. A year ago there was a lot of pessimism and stress, now everyone feels the turnaround has been achieved, and will just take a couple of years to show in profits.

The key has been a focus on product, and the results of the Detroit auto show are just one example of where GM is headed.

I admit I do get scared that Wagoner says he doesn't want GM to become #2 in NA on his watch, when he really has to keep his eye on cash flow and profitability, not his own vanity. As long as he doesn't over extend himself for that, I think GM is in much better shape than the market realizes.

Long on GM
