Would help to know what web browser you use.

PaleMoon (and possibly most of the Firefox family will be similar): first, make sure you have a visible search bar. Not just the location bar - it will do almost everything the search bar will do, but not this.

If you don't have a search bar, go to View, Toolbars, click Customize. Then look around for the search bar and drag it onto some visible toolbar. Then click OK.

Now, at the left end of the search bar you should see an icon for your default search engine, followed by a down-arrow. Click on either one and then on "Manage search engines". This will bring up another dialog with a list of currently-available search engines. Clean out any dreck from that list and then slide down to click the blue "Get more search engines" text.
