In the press release cited above, CVS says:

In the first quarter of 1999, CVS opened 32 new stores, relocated 89 and closed 58 others. As of March 27, 1999, CVS operated 4,096 stores in 24 states and the District of Columbia

"With the opening of 121 new or relocated stores during the quarter, we are on target for meeting
our goal of opening approximately 440 new or relocated stores in 1999," concluded Mr. Ryan.

This looks like an awfully agressive growth plan to
me....but it may be just what is needed to survive
(and prosper) in the current environment.

What I CAN'T understand is why people aren't posting
here about CVS. I was just checking out AT&T and
it's impossible to keep up with what goes on at that
board. OK...OK...I'm comparing VERY big apples
with oranges....but can somebody tell me why CVS
isn't getting much attention here?
