Icelandic discount airline just turned off the switch. That said, EU rules stipulate that passengers receive priority upon its liquidation. They will have to get home and will have to wait, but this is something we, in the US don't get if our carriers bite the dust. In that context, we were given 650 Euros each as compensation (as well as being put up in a room at the Taj Palace in Mumbai for the night) because a British Airways flight we were on was delayed because of EU laws. No questions, no problem - not what we would have expected from a US carrier. (I wonder how it will work post-Brexit?)
