<Bush a Big Hit on First Trip to Poland
By Douglas Busvine

WARSAW (Reuters) - President Bush . . . was a big hit in Poland. . . .

[Hmmm--could this be a reason why the effetes in Euro West are so agitated?]

And a "good first impression"--the press is acting as if W were involved in fraternity rush:

<The two leaders [W and Putin of Russia] walked together onto a square slate terrace at Brdo Castle, a 16th century manor on an estate dotted with lakes and tended lawns in Brdo Pri Kranju, located about 18 miles outside the Slovenian capital, Ljubljana.

[How did this place manage to survive Clinton's air raids?]

<They shook hands, and Putin clasped Bush's hand with both of his.

[Doesn't this just warm your heart, Jedi?]

<Putin said Bush made a "good first impression" a day earlier with a speech in Warsaw, Poland, in which Bush said Russia is not an enemy. "That's a very good foundation on which to proceed," Putin said. That speech, he added, "prompts optimism."

[Aren't we all relieved?]

<"I've been looking forward to this for a long period of time," Bush said. "I think we'll find we have a lot in common."

[Translation: Putin has daughters who like their Vodka a bit too much.]

<During a photo session the two men talked intently, leaning in toward each other from their straight-backed wooden chairs, their foreheads nearly touching.>

[Let's hope the NYTimes and PeopleMag get that shot on the front page, Jedi. It ought to be worth 20 million soccer-mom votes in '04.]
