The WSJ article on Berkshire’s is somewhat negative. Has Charlie said something to offend them lately?

Berkshire under performed the market in 2019 AND has underperformed year to date. 8 weeks into 2020 and the underperformance continues. Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun. Sack the CEO, sector rotate, bin the culture, scrap the business model but most important get rid of that cash pile.

Yes, yes the Berkshire Hathaway system, crafted by the most brilliant minds of capitalism may well have achieved a 2,744,062% gain since 1964 but it under performed of late and year to date.

Yes, I know Berkshire doesn’t get carried away by the crowds and I know Buffett has clearly explained that much more modest returns should be expected in future. And I know one year or 8 weeks is not an appropriate timeframe to measure the success of a business that invests for decades into the future.

But I don’t want excuses Buffett just because you’re 89. We want 20% minimum every year and we demand you out perform the market every year and year to date. What are we paying you for? Get it together man. Can’t you see what you have to do. Tesla and Virgin Galactic, that’s where the money is. Have you seen how much they are up year to date?
