Hi Tax Fools:

Thanks to your help, I finally got my taxes submitted over the weekend. I spent a few hours with my brokerage records, my broker's tax paperwork, my tax software package, publication 550, and the NCAA tournament in the background, dutifully making the adjustments needed to get the tax submission match the financial reality. We submitted electronically and were subsequently informed that the IRS received and accepted our submission.

Wouldn't you know it, but this evening, I got an email informing me of a corrected 1099 from my broker. So I logged in the broker's site, downloaded the corrected 1099, and looked for the corrections.

Every single line listed as a correction by the broker matched at a dollars and cents level and a short vs. long term level to what I had already submitted to the IRS. As a result, I'm not planning on amending my tax submission to report "no change." But I am incredibly grateful to you for giving me the guidance and information to get it right the first time.

Best regards,
