Yes so it appears that BLUE does have a sickle cell cure. I think some other companies do too, so BLUE will try to show its treatment is best in class for safety and efficacy.

The market for sickle cell gene therapy treatment could be enormous. Thousands of children (as many as 50,000+)? are born with this disease each year in US alone.

This trial gets occasional news coverage; there was a 60 minutes program about it earlier in the year though I think they may not have emphasized or maybe not even mentioned BLUE, it was the bluebird trial patients they interviewed.
