We have a 750 watt power inverter. These commonly plug into a cigarette lighter, but those are pretty low wattage. This one clips, via the type of clamps that are normally on jumper cables, to your car’s battery terminals. An ad-how generator, so long as the car has gas. Will keep the fridge cold.

A gennie is fine, but they require care. I had scores of them for which I was responsible when in the Army. If you want power for the bad day, an inverter with a long 10 or 12 gauge cord will keep your sump going, fridge, maybe a light. A gennie is big bucks...for one not from Harbor Freight...and you have to use it some, or it will suffer the malaise of the idle small engine. You know, like your power washer you haven’t used in 2 years and is hard to start.
