You can consolidate your government backed loans with the federal student loan program. Their website is www.loanconsolidation.ed.gov. As of July, 2001 to June, 2002, the interest rate is 5.99%. You get an extra .25% off the rate if you pay electronically. The rate is adjusted every July based on the prime rate, but can never go over 8.25%.
