You have noticed how I have offered that, to management, employees are "expendable"? That has been my experience. Skill sets don't matter. When RS cut pay and benefits, they cut everyone in the stores, not just those with no skills. When OD closed the department I worked in, we were all thrown under the bus, regardless of skills. When the owner of WPI sold all the customer accounts and shut down, we were all thrown under the bus, regardless of skills.

Of course Skill sets don't matter to dead organizations. Ever see a corpse have lunch?


Ever see the editorial documentary "Pets or Meat"? It's a sequel to an earlier work. The title is derived from a person interviewed in the earlier piece, but is used in this context to represent management's view of it's employees.

Workers are not the object of their affection, results are. Is that so hard to understand?
