You simply needed to be a shareholder at the market close on December 21. Some brokers are slow about transferring dividends. You should call or e-mail your broker's customer service and ask. They will probably tell you to wait a day or two and it will show up.

Also, if you are buying and selling the same stock, make sure you understand what a "wash sale" is and how it affects your taxes. If you did not wait 30 days after selling your stock for a loss before repurchasing it, you cannot claim the capital loss on your taxes.
