You still have not answered my question about whether or not paleontology is "science" or not. What predictions does it make (in order to meet one of the criterion for a scientific theory). I could come up with other fields that look at the past as well, and ask the same question.

Paleontology doesn't look at "the past" per se, it looks at the record/evidence of the past and attempts to explain the evolution of life forms.

One of the famous predictions made by paleontologists (or based on the work of paleontologists) was that there would be evidence of intermediate life forms between humans and non-human primates. Adversaries of Darwinian evolution including humans coined the term "missing link". The good news is, that the "missing link" isn't missing any longer. The once so popular counter-evolutionary opinion that there might have been some evolution, but man was created separately, has been thoroughly refuted by hundreds of finds of hominids and proto-hominids on a scale from possible common ancestors of great apes and humans to evidently human species. Of course, that doesn't disprove a construct (not a theory) which rejects all evolution and claims that "god" created over and over again as many times as environmental changes (which would have been no challenge to a "god" in the habit of playing around with creation every now and then) made it necessary to replace the current deck of living "creatures" with a new and better one.
